Happy New Year !

I can't believe it's the start of a new year already. Wow.

We had an uneventful day yesterday. Since Bill had been on call, and was super busy (40+ hrs of OT), he really needed at least one day of nothing to do. I was okay with that. We watched some movies and just hung out in general. We've watched a lot of movies in the last month, kind of catching up I guess. We don't "go out" to the movies much, but we watch a lot of them on pay per view and HBO. Some of them I'm glad we didn't spend the money on.

Here's what I thought of the movies we've seen;
Don't Mess With the Zohan was the worst movie ever! Moronic would be kind. We like Adam Sandler but that one sucked!
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry was so dumb but for some reason we really enjoyed it's humor. Go figure!
We also both like most M. Night Shyamalan movies. But The Happening was almost an unintentional comedy. Oh, it was suspenseful until you knew what what the happening was, then it just didn't go anywhere.
What Happens in Vegas was cute but pretty typical.
Same for P.S. I Love You. Except it wasn't fun. It had some cute spots but mostly it was just a downer.
Iron Man was TONS of fun. I've been rooting for Robert Downy Jr. for a long time and this was a great comeback for him. I can't wait for the sequel!
Hellboy II, was a blast. Great special effects. I love special effects. I laughed heartily at the Barry Manilow bit ~ it was pretty funny.
27 Dresses was also a pretty typical love story.
I Am Legend was good until the end. Then, you know me, it was awful! Journey to the Center of the Earth was pretty lame.
Indiana Jones 4 was fun but not nearly as good as 1 and 3.
Rendition had a couple good twists, but it was a little hard to follow.
We liked 21
Loved Vantage Point! Very different for a change.
The Mummy 3 was like the rest, which was fine with me! I like all the Mummy movies :-)
The Golden Compass was good too. Even better the 2nd time despite the anti religion undertones, which from what I understand, were diluted compared to the novels.
Nights in Rodanthe was just like every other Nicholas Sparks story. That takes away so much for me. But I still enjoyed watching Diane Lane and Richard Gere. They're a good couple on screen.
Tropic Thunder was pretty different. I liked it for that. That's all I can say about it though.
Wall-E was the best of the bunch. It was quite a statement and we both liked it very much.
The Bucket List ~ hmmm. I didn't like it all. Bill liked it a lot. He said it had a lot of great 'old guy' humor in it. I'm not an old guy so I didn't get it.

This coming year, we're going to try and go to the movies more. There are quite a few out right now that we both want to see; Yes Man, Seven Pounds, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and really looking forward to what Clint Eastwood says is his last acting job ~ Gran Torino. Sometimes I really miss the tough guy movies.
