being different

When I was a lot younger, I always liked being different, sort of.

I didn't ever expect to actually be different though!

The first time I saw a chiropractor, she informed me that I had an extra vertebra, (2 L5 vertebrae) an extra pair of ribs, (little ones at the very top) and a little bony bridge connecting my hip bone to my spine. I think all of this explains why I wasn't born w/all my teeth.

Also, I have cataracts. Not the regular, getting old kind either. Nope, not me. I have the third kind;

It's called,
  • Subcapsular cataracts affect the back of your lens and usually progress more quickly than other types. Subcapsular cataracts cause blurriness and glare, and are more likely to strike those with diabetes, extreme nearsightedness, retinitus pigmentosa or people who take steroid medications
Yesterday, I went to the eye surgeon for my evaluation and he gave me the big thumbs up for cataract surgery. Yessssss! It's been almost 5 years since I had the other done so I'll be SO happy to have this one done and be able to see true colors again! But...while I was there, he also told me I have something called Fuchs Dystrophy. I know, right?! What the hell is that?!

He made it sound like it wasn't really that big of a problem, mine is mild. But still. Normal is just better sometimes!
