Our first stop was the 2nd highest rated donut shop in Indy;
We got there about 8:40. They were out of donuts. Seriously?!
Then we hit the place rated best donuts in Indy!
The line was out the door. We waited 20 minutes. They were awful!!! Under-cooked and when you squeezed them, oil just oozed out. It was gross. It's National Donut Day people! OK, so they had donuts, but geez - they could've at least been good!!
Then we went to another top 5 donut shop;
You guessed it, no donuts here. I was expecting these places to be better prepared I guess.
Then we hit the circle downtown for square donuts. They were free! You can imagine the line, right? So we skipped that. And the next place on our list got scratched off because of road detours and we didn't really know where we were going anyway.
Next stop? This place;
Cute huh? They sell a maple bacon donut that I was really looking forward to trying, but....you guessed it. They were actually closed!
The next stop in our quest was;
Nope. Nada. Zip. Nill. People!!! Come on!
After that, we were hungry, because we hadn't eaten any donuts, so our next stop was;
After that, we tried;
Thankfully, they were prepared for National Donut Day!! Hooray!! And they weren't bad either! Finally!
Continuing on to;
Yeah, they joined the 'no donuts for you' list.
We had a couple more places we wanted to go but only made it to;
All in all, we had a fun day but our quest was unsucessful. It was a little like shopping on Black Friday, at noon. You know, if want the best deal, you have to go at 5AM. On the other hand, I kept thinking, it's National Donut Day! It happens every year! Be prepared people! Good grief!
