Happy Thanksgiving 2022

Greetings all!

Here we are again, at that holiday that gets lost in the shuffle between Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving. That holiday to celebrate all the things you’ve been blessed with, and/or are thankful for. While the Thanksgiving meal was originally a get together to celebrate a good harvest, it wasn’t just about the food. It was about sharing. About being together and getting along, despite our differences. About having enough of what they needed. Thanksgiving has changed a lot since 1621. George Washington proclaimed it a “Day of Public Thanksgiving,” in 1789, but it wasn’t until 1863, that Thanksgiving became a national holiday. To celebrate their grand opening in 1924, Macy’s held its first parade. The first Butterball turkeys were sold in 1954. Campbell’s green bean casserole first hit our dinner tables in 1955. Shopping on Black Friday started in 1966. Stovetop stuffing made its debut in 1972. There has always been an NFL game played on Thanksgiving day, since the NFL was started in 1920. I’d like to think that we can still just be thankful though. For over 20 years I’ve been reminding folks to take a moment and be grateful for the little things. Those things that you might take for granted. Things that makes you smile or feel good. It’s important to stop every now and then and think about how much you have.

What have you got people?!

I’ll start!

I’m thankful for;

Paper – solid colored, with designs, doesn’t matter. I love it all!

Good walking shoes

Live entertainment, in person, without masks! Woohoo!

Silliness

Fat Dan’s Dirty Tots – potatoes, gooey cheese, bbq pork. What more is there?!

Safe travels

Choices – what to wear, what to listen to, what to believe

ALL the colored gel pens, all the time – sparkly, metallic, neon…just give them all to me

Paved streets

Streaming everything

Videos of panda bears, behaving like little kids with extra padding

Sunglasses

Albanese gummy bears

SiriusXM (Christmas music!)

Turkey sausage

Books

Nice neighbors

Old photo albums

A neighbors little kitty that comes by our house almost every day for head scratches

Hobby Lobby – on the list every year

Flavored moonshine

A good parking spot at the grocery store when it’s raining

Glitter

ALL the seasons, each one a reminder of things to come

Every single day I’m thankful for; my job, which allows me to work from home 2 days a week. A really great vehicle to get me where I want to go. A roof over my head, complete with heat and air-conditioning. Good health. Great people to hang out with occasionally. Enough of what I need, and everything I want. The BEST mom! My husband, 24/7, who always tries his best. I’ve felt loved my whole life. I’m a lucky woman.

Bee happy 😊

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Greetings!

I hope this year’s annual Thanksgiving email finds you all healthy and happy. It’s been quite a year hasn’t it. Filled with so many ups and downs, forward steps and backward tumbles. Good news and bad news. So many challenges had to be faced this year. Childcare, e learning, traffic, teleworking, good wi-fi, finding what you want at the store! The “new normal” is difficult for so many of us. Was it hard for you this year, to find joy? Well, hopefully this year’s email will help you remember…it really is the little things sometimes. It’s the little things that make you smile and laugh. A nice compliment. A good joke at the right time. It’s the little things that make you feel good, like your favorite comfort food or comfy shoes. All those small things that gradually add up to create your day, week, month, a lifetime. Don’t forget to be thankful for those things. Especially during these trying times.

I’m thankful for:

* Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Discovery+ - anything I can stream without commercials or news commentary!
* Cheese
* Funny animal videos - I dare you not to laugh at fainting goats or cats and cucumbers!
* Roasted brussel sprouts! – who knew??
* SiriusXM – Christmas music now playing!
* People who laugh easily.
* The Farmer’s Market at work
* Hyacinths, sunny days, sparkling snow and especially Autumn
* Cheese
* Quilling – hobbies are a great source of joy
* Rummy bears 😊 – gummy bears soaked in rum. Ya ya!
* Handel’s ice cream
* Sparkles
* Vacations – home and away; long and short
* Hobby Lobby – for so many reasons!
* A heated garage!
* Cheese – did I say that already?
* Marvel superheroes – the world needs more good guys, you know, like Thor!
* Good stories and their story tellers
* Crockpots
* Ice on demand

I am profoundly thankful for another cancer free year for my mom and husband. Every day, I'm thankful for my job, friends, more than I need, dependable transportation, a home, good health and my family. Wacky, challenging and difficult at times, but all mine. I'm super thankful that my sister-in-law has been there to look after my brother. She's remarkable!
I'm grateful for everyone that came out to support me at my very first arts and crafts show!
Every single day I'm thankful for my husband of 32 years. His funny side and patience really keep me going sometimes. He's my huckleberry and he always has my back.
I've felt loved my whole life. I'm pretty lucky.

Life is good.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!

 The year is 2020. Historical on so many levels.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow! This year, I thought about skipping this annual tradition of mine. Then I thought, aren’t I the one who always tries to look for the silver lining? If that’s true, then this year should be no different. More challenging for sure, but no different.

Let’s get started;

If you were employed all year, be thankful for that.

I you had a home all year, be thankful for that.

If you had enough to eat all year, be thankful for that.

If you were in good health all year, be extra thankful for that.

There was no live entertainment, but there was still music to listen to.

There weren’t many sporting events you could attend, but games were still played, races were still driven and championships were still decided.

You didn’t get to dine out as much as you wanted to but maybe that made you a better cook! (There’s more in the culinary world than just macaroni and cheese you know!)

Your favorite TV shows were put on hold and there were no movies at the theater, making you a little more thankful for a good book.

Birthdays were celebrated a little differently for most of you. Thankfully though, you still had one.

There were far less baby showers to attend but babies still came into the world.

Instead of vacations, maybe you fixed things up around the house.

Maybe you built a model, finally learned how to crochet, or discovered that you like puzzles!

Consumerism took a back seat to basic consumption.

And we all learned a little more about what essential really means.

My own list includes;

Naps, cute masks, sugar cookies, pajamas, lots of quilling, ice, Tums, sweet dreams, working from home, humming bird feeders, good conversations, humor, our new percolator and Christmas decorations-early!

And of course, the most important things; Family, even the nutty ones. Friends, even at a distance. Love.

Yep, it’s been a strange year. Toilet paper shortages. No cleaning supplies. Frozen pizzas and Top Ramen flying of the shelves. Amazon, Door Dash, Zoom and Microsoft Teams became a thousand times bigger! Memes became standard. Waterways became cleaner. The air, less polluted. There’s an overabundance of oil. Virtual became a thing. Through all of that though, there were still plenty of things to be thankful for.

Life is good people. Be a little kinder. Give a little more. Help when you can.

Have Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Life is filled with so many practical and wondrous things. Emotional and physical. Small and large. Good and bad. It's those everyday things that you take for granted, that fill up your days. Take a moment this year and be thankful for those. The little things that make you smile.

I'm thankful for;

  • Video games. They made a pro out of the surgeon who performed extensive, robotic shoulder/bicep surgery on my husband.
  • Unexpected kindness.
  • The spirit of one of our sweet dogs left us this year and we miss her terribly. So I'm extra thankful for all the joy a dog brings into you home.
  • Back roads, the wilderness, topography, weather, history ~ all courtesy of a 4300 mile road trip.
  • Tacos.
  • Kitchen gadgets. Oh yeah, lot's and lot's of kitchen gadgets.
  • Costco. Because pizza, margaritas, pickled beets and salmon are a thing in our house!
  • SiriusXM radio. Ads suck.
  • Flavored vinegar, olive oil and salts.
  • Sunshine, colorful leaves, sparkling snow and blossoms.
  • Funko Pop :-)
  • Entertainment! In all forms; books, movies, plays, music, sports.
  • The seat warmers in my car. Who knew how awesome that would be ?!?
  • Cheese. Created by the devil, right after carbs.
I'm thankful for all of life's daily blessings ~ a source of income, a place to rest my head at the end of a long day, a car to get me where I want to be, clothes in the closet, really comfy shoes, food in the cupboard, good health. If you have all of those things, you have enough. I have enough. I have more than my share actually. This year, we welcomed a new set of twins into the family, precious baby girls, as well as an unexpected cousin. I'm thankful that our 4300 mile road-trip/vacation was experienced without a single problem! I am profoundly thankful for the love of my husband, whose immeasurable patience and sense of humor really is the cherry on top! For my family, each of them special in their own way.
I'm a lucky, lucky woman.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Life is good * Bee happy

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Greetings, family and friends!

This year marks the 20th anniversary of my annual, “I’m Thankful For…” list. Quite a milestone! I have several milestones this year. My husband proposed to me the weekend after Thanksgiving, 30 years ago. I’ve been at my place of employment for 10 years. We celebrated my mom’s 10th  year cancer free. Both of my nieces  celebrated their children’s 1st birthdays. Did you celebrate any milestones or achievements this year? What about all those seemingly insignificant things that you take for granted. The things that make up your day. Do you ever stop to celebrate those? Now is the perfect time of year to do that, don’t you think?
Let’s get started;

I am thankful/grateful for;

French vanilla creamer in my coffee
Stories – verbal, short or novels
Music from the 70’s
OMG Twins! - again!!!
Choices
Bluetooth hearing aids –music at work is a lot more fun now
Kindness
Gel pens – lots and lots of gel pens
Funko-Pop
Autumn leaves
Sunshine that sparkles on the snow
Technology
Hobby Lobby, for SO MANY reasons
Extroverts
Sweet Tart jelly beans – thankfully, only available at Easter!!
Mosquito repellant
Extra creamy, gooey mac n cheese
Photographs
Fresh food
Backyard birdfeeders
Tomato soup
People that smile a lot and laugh easily
Weekend getaways

Every day, I’m thankful for my job, dependable transportation, a place to kick my shoes off at the end of the day, more than I need and everything I want. Every day I’m profoundly thankful for my family – diverse, wacky, challenging at times and all mine. Even the furry ones! I’m so thankful for the endless patience and love of my husband. He still makes me laugh more than anyone else. My life is amazingly blessed every single day. I bet yours is too.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Soon, most of you will be gathered around your friends and family, celebrating another opportunity to be together. I'm pretty sure that it seems like it was just March, a couple months ago. In the blink of an eye, it whooshes by. In the blink of an eye, lives are changed forever. In the blink of an eye, the toddler you cherished becomes a teenager that's barely recognizable and an adult with a family of their own. In the blink of an eye, you have gray hair, need glasses and you just want to wear comfy shoes. In the blink of an eye, the world has become so small. Things are changing so quickly. It's important to stop every now and then and think about how much you have. What makes you smile. How lucky you are to be loved.

I am thankful/grateful for;

Amazon's unlimited music
Kindle's unlimited reading
You Tube videos of goats - pygmy, fainting, kids, you name it, they're all funny as hell.
Social media - so I know what's going on w/my peeps
Laughter
Costco's Kirkland brand Margarita - the BEST flavor in a bottle, hands down
Fitbit - because sitting is the new smoking
More babies!!!
A great produce department at the local grocery store
Sunglasses
Red Vines - no, throw those Twizzlers away!
My smartphone - for everything
Live entertainment - you know I mean Garth Brooks, right? :-)
Good water right out of the faucet
Country roads - because sometimes the world is just too peopley
Modern medicine/dentistry
Sweet tea
A really good Reuben, with extra sauerkraut
Hobby Lobby - quilling, needle felting, painting, cross stitch, coloring books...ahhhhh
Hyacinths, sunny days, sparkling snow, but especially Autumn
Netflix
2 great dogs that make us laugh several times a day

Every single day, I'm profoundly thankful for another cancer free year for my mom and husband. Every single day, I'm thankful for my job; friends, the family you choose for yourself; more than I need; a car to take me wherever I want to roam; a cozy home to start and end my journey every day; good health; family, challenging and difficult at times, but all mine. I've felt loved, my whole life. I'm pretty lucky.

Bee happy. It's a wonderful life,

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Parts of this year were pretty great. Other parts, not so hot. I was reminded though, that's exactly when you should be thankful for everything you do have - during the not so hot parts. Usually, I think I'm pretty good at that. But dang, some days it's hard! I know that there's so much to be thankful for. It's just not always easy to recognize those things, especially when you're day isn't going so well. Sometimes we lose sight of how much we have. Even when we have a joyfully happy day! So, during the coming year, if you happen to have a not so hot day, think about some small thing that made you day better. Perhaps it will be something as great as green lights all the way to work. Maybe it will be something as simple as getting the last cup of coffee in the pot or the last clean spoon in the drawer. Or even better, maybe a stranger will smile at you for no reason or let you cut into traffic. Everything you take for granted is something to be thankful for. Everything that makes you smile is something to be grateful for. Keep this little saying in mind; every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day. Hokey I know, but true none the less.

With that in mind, I'm thankful for;

Southwest Airlines $39 one way tickets to Washington DC!  - That was fun!
A windy autumn day
Good walking shoes
Disco music - or anything else from the 70's
Wheat Beer
Coloring books - doodle art has come a long way folks and validation is delightful!
News free days
Technology - awesome and scary!
Live entertainment - Especially if it involves singing and/or dancing
Hobbies - many
Greta and Pepper - woof!
Air conditioning
Modern medicine - saving lives every day
Snow days - there's something to be said for living on a dead end street
1/2 Price Books annual $2 or less sale
Queso dip - mmmmm, gooey cheese
Youthful exuberance and wonder
Hugh Jackman might be the next James Bond! (hey, it's my list)
Happy people
Free parking downtown
Pandora - you know, for all that great disco music
Fresh pineapple
My favorite DJ's on the local country station
Art - not that modern crap though
Avocados and craisins in my salad
A new roof - functional and pretty!
24/7 Christmas music - right around the corner!
Visitors - always welcome. But you know, call first J
Birds at the backyard diner
Sleeping late on Saturday
Amazon - if they don't have it, you don't need it
The cutest twins ever born!

Besides all of those fun, silly, wonderful things, every single day, I’m thankful for my job, a dependable car, a home, a fridge filled with food and more than I need. Every single day, I am profoundly thankful for my wonderfully diverse family and a strong, patient husband who never tires of being married to me. Every day, I know that I am loved. What more could a girl ask for? What about you? Make the world a better place, spread the joy, tell me 3 things that you're thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Life is good. Bee Happy.

Happy Thanksgiving!

What could I possibly have to share with you this Thanksgiving? Hmmm. Let's see. There must be something. What was it? OH! I know...EVERYTHING!!

Whether you're busy cleaning or cooking, shopping or sleeping, eating or watching the game, take a moment and think about all the things you have to be grateful for. Don't cheat and just say "everything" either. Not that everything doesn't count but I want you to pick out some of those small (or big) things that make you smile. Those people that brighten your day. Those moments that make you happy or sigh blissfully with contentment. All of those things that make your day or life, nicer/better/more pleasant. The ones that you would miss if they suddenly disappeared from your life.

Some of my little things are;
* When someone brings their mini me to work. It's always great to have fresh people in the office.
* Quilling paper or colored paper and my cool little paper cutter
* Christmas music 24/7
* Autumn leaves, snow that sparkles, sunshine...oh who am I kidding, I love ALL the seasons!
* Wine and Canvas with my Mom
* Pinterest. No, seriously! I have an entire make believe environment on Pinterest and it's awesome!
* Peach yogurt
* Funny people
* Big band and Swing music on Saturday and Sunday morning.
* Sugar (Surprise!!)
* Beer battered french fries from The Stacked Pickle
* Any Disney cartoon
* Courteous drivers, so rare these days
* Greta and Pepper, our dogs, who find my mere existence the most joyful thing in the world...right after food
* The keypad on our front door - not having a key to get in is still fantastic even 5 years later!
* Staycations - just as good as vacations when you're trying to get things done around the house

The big things on my list, and they are pretty big;
* My Mom celebrated the BIG 5 year mark, cancer free!! Woohoo!
* My husband will celebrate 3 years cancer free next month. His doctor is really optimistic now. I never stopped being optimistic.
* My job, when so many are without
* Our home. And thanks to my very own live in handy man extraordinaire, we now have a great walk-in closet in our newly (almost finished) remodeled master suite! Yessssss!
* My family, pseudo and real. Close and far away. All of them contribute something wonderful and unique to the world.

Every single day I'm thankful for all the blessings in my life. The big ones, silly ones, special ones and small ones. My life is filled with so much more than I need. Every day I am profoundly thankful for the love that surrounds me. It really does make the world go 'round.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
It's a good life, bee happy

Big hugs,
Cynthia

Happy Thanksgiving 2011

Would it be Thanksgiving if you weren’t thankful for anything? You must be thankful for something? I am. As a matter of fact, here’s my annual list;

Let’s start this year with all of life’s daily blessings ~ a source of income, a place to hang your hat at the end of the day, a car to get you where you want to be, a closet full of clothes and really comfy shoes, a cupboard full of food, good health. If you have all of those things, you have enough. I have enough. I have more than my share actually.

Now let’s move on to the really BIG things!

I’m immensely grateful that my husband will celebrate his one year anniversary cancer free, on December 8th! AND, my Mom celebrated 3 years cancer free!
Yep, that chalks it up for me, see ya next year.

No, no, just kidding. It’s just so hard to believe that there’s anything else I could be grateful for. Surprisingly though, there is still a long list of things to be grateful and thankful for;

Dogs - Nobody should be without one - or 2 (or 3? c'mon, please honey?)
Cafeteria style mac and cheese – OK, so I’m dork. It's my guilty pleasure and I know you have your own.
New hobbies – I LOVE quilling!!! I think everyone else loves my new hobby too ;-)
Aleve – the best ever! for achy muscles.
My dentist – even though I have the most expensive mouth this side of the mighty Miss, I still love my dentist for never being the cause of my pain.
Spinach artichoke dip from Costco – I’m not a gourmet food kind of gal (evidenced by the mac and cheese comment above, but this stuff is scrumptious!)
Relpax – that’s the miracle migraine medicine – whew.
½ caf coffee – because as I’ve gotten older, I just can’t live on caffeine and cigarettes anymore.
…speaking of…NOT smoking – It’s been over 3 years now.
Homemade Saki from the Ozarks – mmmmm yummy! Don't laugh...the Ozarks are beautiful and filled with interesting and colorful folks.
My desktop fan at work – lordy those hot flashes suck!
Cheerful people.
Ugg boots in the winter.
Four seasons – Hyacinths, sunny days, sparkly snow and especially autumn.
Music – still lovin’ my MP3 player, filled with a wide range of tunes. Some of which actually make me wiggle in my chair.
E-mail jokes and videos that make me laugh out loud.
Books - lots of them. The heavy kind with paper pages. I know you might love your e-reader but for now I'm sticking with the traditional version.
Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry syrup. I couldn’t have pancakes without it!

I'm thankful for the constant love of my husband and family. Not always easy I know, but always worth it!

And I am profoundly thankful every day for this beautiful adventure that is life. Complete with all its ups and downs, setbacks and lessons learned, sadness, joys, good times and silliness. How about you? What are you thankful for?

Life is good.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thanksgiving 2009

Welcome once again to my annual “I’m thankful for” list. Can you believe this is the 11th year I’ve done this? I’m happy to say that my distribution list grows longer every year.

There are so many things to be thankful for every day, that sometimes it’s hard to just pick out some of them. I’ve done my best though.

How about you? Do you have a list? If you don’t, this year I want you to think of 11 things that you’re thankful for. Imagine, if everyone did that, the world would be a much happier place, don’t you think? Remember, blessings and thank yous are free!

Here is my list of 11;

1. I’m super duper thankful that my Mom celebrated her 1 year anniversary being cancer free!

2. I’m so thankful for all the family and friends who traveled to Las Vegas last January to help me celebrate turning 50! Now that was big fun!

3. I’m thankful to have celebrated 2 decades of wedded bliss last June. Even the not so blissful moments are okay.

4. I’m thankful for my new sister-in-law and that my baby brother finally found his own wedded bliss. Love rocks!

5. I’m thankful that I can find something to laugh at every single day.

6. In my corner of the world I’m thankful that we are content and that we have everything we need and lots of things we don’t. It’s a nice feeling.

7. I’m thankful for live entertainment. I love concerts and plays. I love them combined too! (that makes it a musical)

8. I’m also thankful that the whole family consists of a bunch of NON-smokers. It’s the greatest thing!

9. I’m thankful that I am loved, especially on my worst days when my head is full of snarky comments.

10. Everyone in our family did some traveling this year and everyone made it back home, so I’m thankful that God keeps us safe.

11. And last but not least, I’m thankful for Vanilla Coke Zero, chive fries w/ranch dressing, Autumn leaves, sunny days, fuzzy slippers on chilly mornings, my MP3 player, Jelly Belly’s, email jokes, Chef Boyardee Ravioli, our jobs, Costco, 2 silly dogs, Hershey’s candy cane kisses, books, 24/7 Christmas music on 107.9, and each of you, all of who contribute to the happiness to my life.

I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving!

Bee thankful, life is full of joy

Love,
Cynthia
