Sometimes I cry because people are so ugly. I cry because the suffering is so unbearable.

How is it possible for a human being NOT to see the fear and anguish in a child's face when you beat them?

I don't understand.
I was thinking of watching some Disney movies but even they are filled with death! Booooooo.

Ok, here are the results of unscientific taste test of the 4 new Lays Potato Chip flavors. You know, the ones you get to vote on?
First up, Gyro flavored.
6 10 people gave this flavor a BIG no. Icky. Real icky.
Next, Reuben flavored.
3 5 people gave this flavor a resounding, eh.
4 6 people gave this flavor a NO.
Then there was Truffle Fries flavor.
8 9 people said, it tastes like sour cream and onion.
3 people said they smell bad.
3 people kind of liked their earthy flavor?
Lastly, Biscuits and Gravy flavored.
6 7 people said, out of all of them, I might eat these.
They kind of taste like sausage.
4 people said, ewww.
Mostly, what we discovered is, potato chips shouldn't come in meat flavors.

My fella had a birthday this month. So did our country! The month is almost over and I'm still trying to figure out what happened to May!
We are now officially in the wettest July in the history of Indiana. Well, since they've been keeping track. Our July rainfall average is 4.55 inches. As of today, with at least one more good storm to come, we have 13.13 inches of rain this month. That's a lot of rain! I know that California would kill for even a 1/4 of that. Everything sure is pretty though!
Last week was so busy for me, in the world of the working. All week there were interactions with people to be had and I was exhausted when Friday finally came. As an introvert, I'm a pretty good faker when it comes to being nice to people. But all that niceness and talking takes its toll on me by the end of the week.
When my mom retired, we were worried about her. We thought for sure she would become a total recluse. Imagine how pleasantly surprised we are, that she's not! As a matter of fact, she's a lot like my brother now!! She talks to everybody!! By the time I got home last Friday, I realized that I'LL be the one who turns into a recluse! I will be perfectly happy to just be home and not have to be around people. Over the winter, sometimes Bill will get cabin fever after just a couple days. Not me boy! So far, I don't think I've ever gotten cabin fever. Really. Yesterday, I din't even get out of my pj's. I did some quilling, I painted a little, I read a little, I played games on the computer and I watched movies. IT WAS AWESOME! Oh, the movies? The Maze Runner - apparently it's a series...I didn't know that. So the ending was dumb. Night At The Museum 3 - has to be the most expensive stupid movie made that year. If you haven't seen it, go ahead and skip it. Transcendence - with Johnny Depp. I actually kind of liked that one. Maleficent - which was super fun, with all those cool caries and creatures! And the 4th Die Hard. Of course I've seen it already...a few times. But I love Bruce Willis. And 2 episodes of LOST - just because.
Yep, it was a nice quiet day. I needed it!

How is it that some celebrities are so functional and generous? I know Taylor Swift is big ham, for sure. And lets be honest, she doesn't have the best voice around. This girl is rockin' her life though!

Anyway, like we didn't see this coming, the founder of The First Church of Cannabis has filed a religious freedom suit against the state. Another prime example of why attorneys are so despised!

REALLY random...
In a front yard tree of our neighbor, a pair of red tail hawks made their nest and had babies. It's been really cool to see them all the time. Here's the mama;
See this guy? It's Vince Gill :-) We saw him a couple months ago. He did a fantastic show. He's an excellent story teller and we really enjoyed the show!
One of the babies is just hanging around. I guess that's normal? But we hear it screeching, frequently! And we see it all the time. This morning, as a matter of fact, it was chillin' on top of our bird feeder! It's pretty neat.

Notre Dame
No, not the one over there. The university here in Indiana.
Mom and I went, a couple weeks ago. Just to check it out. 1200 acres of perfectly manicured grounds and fabulous old buildings! Not to mention all the history!!

With a chapel in every dorm, plus the church, over 150 masses are performed every week!
This is the library. 14 stories! That's a whole lot of learnin' there!
Yep, and here it is...their $400 MILLION dollar + football stadium. where they play SIX games every year. What!??!?!
I don't know why I think tree bark is so cool. I just do. This one is extra, super, duper cool!

ummm....
Ok, so you know I don't like people. In a in general sort of way. I especially want people to stay out of my bubble. I know this may seem like a little thing but when you're protective of your personal bubble, it's REALLY irritating!!! I want people to stop using and/or taking things off my desk!!! Seriously! My desk is in an open area of our office suite. Everybody that comes in, has to come past me. It's a little like a small lobby. Usually, if someone needs something, they'll ask. You know, may I borrow your stapler? Can I have a paperclip? Do you have a pen I can borrow? I'm cool with that. But you would not believe how many people just take crap off my desk! Rude! And it ticked me off today. I admit though that today it was partly because I don't like the person who did it. Still...RUDE!

every morning I drive by this little pond, well I actually drive by several, but this one in particular NEVER has any duck or geese in it. You know why? Because there are a couple fake swans in it. Who knew that swans were so bad ass that none of the other water fowl want to be around them??

how I benefit from retirement
I know my fella still struggles here and there, not working and all. So far though, I'm really reaping the benefits of his retirement!
Today for instance, he's making a frame for me, for a watercolor we bought a few months ago.
He's also finished the vanity he built for me;
And he had to move a light box in the attic so he could put up my oh so cool light;
Yeah, that's pretty sweet, I must say :-)

what I love about summer
First of all, because we're in the eastern time zone instead of the central time zone, it doesn't get really dark until 10:00. It's kind of cool, all that extra light. It makes you more productive, don't you think?
Second, no school means A LOT less traffic! Oh how I love my summer commute! It shaves at least 10 minutes off my drive! I know that doesn't really sound like a lot but trust me, 45/50 minutes with less boneheads beats the hell out of 60+ minutes watching out for your life! People drive better in California - you know why? Because they're afraid of getting shot! And people were getting shot because decent to OK drivers had had enough of stupid, rude, asshole drivers!
Third, a lot less TV. Sure, there are shows I like but it is kind of nice that there's not much to watch right now.
Last but not least, the farmer's market! It's so awesome. Every Thursday, right outside our building here at work, we have a farmer's market. It's fantastic! Home grown corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, string beans and more. YUM-O!

and one more thing I'm forgetting right now.
Last Sunday, we took Mom to dinner for her birthday and our anniversary. We went to a place called St. Elmo's. OMG! I can't even believe that you can make meat taste that good! We all had filet mignon and honestly, it was SO tender you could almost cut it with a fork! It was heavenly!
On her actual birthday, we're going to drive up to South Bend and visit Notre Dame University. She said she's always wanted to see it and I am all about making dreams come true! I should've been Santa! Aaaaand, there's a chocolate factory in South Bend that you can take a tour of! Don't be silly, of course we're going to to go that too! Not Bill though...he's going to spend the day at Mom's babysitting the dogs and doing some projects Mom has for him :-) He's so great about that!
Oh! And Saturday is the annual 1/2 Price Books sale! 7 states are participating and
nothing is over $2.00!!! It's the best thing ever! Movies, music and books!! You can never have too many books. Also on Saturday, there is a mega pet adoption event - all dogs and cats, $30. Over a 1000 of them! I feel like I need to go...but I won't. I really was going to...then I looked it up and saw an article in the paper from last years event and it said they "ran out of dogs" on the first day. They adopted out over 600 hundred dogs! That made me feel really good. Besides, I have my eye on a fella at our local shelter. I'm trying to get Bill to warm up to the idea. He loves the dog but he is already 10 years old. I don't care. He's so stinkin' cute!

Barbie
Stop messing around with Barbie! Leave the poor old girl alone. I saw something the other day about sales for some new modern, normal looking Barbie being horrible. All I could think was, duh. Who the hell wants a normal girl fantasy doll!!
Honestly, I didn't know a single girl, when I was little, that wanted to look like Barbie! Granted, I was kind of a tom-boy, but I had a couple of them. My little friends had Barbies. As far as I know, they didn't want to look like Barbie either! She was a doll for heaven's sake. Oh I know pop culture has turned girls into a hot mess but I would venture to guess that the largest majority of them still don't want to look like Barbie! I would also venture to guess that the whole big boobs and big butt thing didn't evolve from wanting to look like Barbie either! Geesh. I do love how Barbie has changed over the years though!

The news is just cracking me up this morning! Oh my gosh! There is wacky shit going on in the world.
I know a couple of these are kind of old news now, but I'm just catching up this morning.
First, there's the story about the first Church of Cannabis. This story made me say, when my co-worker asked me what I was laughing about, "the absurdity of people! We are just soooo tolerant!" Really. Why are we so worried allll the time about letting people do what they want? It kills me! This one is so funny though;
This next one isn't really funny but still, what?!!?!? If you don't want to read it, it's about a woman doing 6 life sentences for killing 6 people (2 adult 4 children). Apparently there's going to be some series on a cable channel about violent crimes committed by women or something. But this show is trying to put a sympathetic spin on this woman. You know, she didn't MEAN for them to die, (she set their house on fire), but she was being abused, (she was 18). I don't know. Her attorney, (no wonder your profession is so maligned) says she should be released, she's sorry, she used poor judgement. Duh. Just because your nuts doesn't mean you're not guilty! I hate that!
And this last one? Well, you really have to read it. People are so dumb!!! Why would you even believe in the first place that this chick was black? Huh?

As time goes by...
today, Bill and I have been married for 26 years. In 4 years, I will have be married to the same person for half of my life. On one hand, I always knew that I would be married to the same person for as long as I was a married person. On the other hand, I can't believe I've been married so long! Mom said she didn't think anyone would ever marry me! Ha!! Now look at me - twenty six years. 9490 days, give or take a leap year. I might not remember what happened yesterday on General Hospital, but I can still remember, clearly, our wedding day - our honeymoon - all the places we've lived - 26 years of life, shared with another person. Imagine.
