More, big fun in Vegas stuff...

Of course I have some favorite things...getting to meet my grandson, finally!!! It was worth the wait though, man is he the sweetest cutest lil guy ever! Happy and laid back all the time. He had the cutest little 1948 shirt on, just for his grandpa. Yup, definitely going to be on the web cams more!

Also, I loved that my 17yr old niece, in front of everyone, said that I taught her how to draw a lion when she was a little girl. Then she brought one she just drew for me. Pretty neat. I couldn't believe she remembered that from so long ago.

Just in general, having so much of my family around, was delightful! It was so great to spend time with the kids and meet the son's gal pal. And some old friends, that traveled long distances, just to see ME! Imagine that! I'll be feeling warm and fuzzy about that for a LONG time.

The weather was wonderful, especially after coming from sub zero temps! And it seemed like we were eating allll the time! We weren't, but it felt like it. Oh, because we ate so much when we did eat, we were full all the time! hahahahaha

I had so much fun, I forgot all about turning 50. I am a 1/2 century old. Geez!

One more little thing...you know that famous "welcome to fabulous las vegas" sign? I saw it for the very first time last weekend. I thought it was a really BIG sign...turns out, it's just a little dinky thing! (in comparison to other Vegas signs) I was so surprised! I found this pic on Google, so you could see how small it is, in case YOU were sure that it was at least the size of a really big billboard too!

Oh man, this is baaaaad!

This is disgusting! I like bacon, and I like sausage, but.....ewwwww

This recipe is the
Bacon Explosion, modestly called by its inventors “the BBQ Sausage Recipe of all Recipes.” The instructions for constructing this massive torpedo-shaped amalgamation of two pounds of bacon woven through and around two pounds of sausage and slathered in barbecue sauce first appeared last month on the Web site of a team of Kansas City competition barbecuers. They say a diverse collection of well over 16,000 Web sites have linked to the recipe, celebrating, or sometimes scolding, its excessiveness. A fresh audience could be ready to discover it on Super Bowl Sunday.

Really, I'm not kidding, just looking at the pictures made me crave something healthy!

Big fun in Vegas

Wow! What a great time we all had!!! I can't begin to thank everyone who came, enough. They all made me feel so very special. It was truly the best party I ever threw! Lots of time with family and friends. My brother was the BEST emcee EVER! Really, you would never know that he's not really an extrovert would you?! By the time we left Vegas, I felt like I had used all my words for the rest of the month! Tons of visiting everyday, except for Saturday. We had a few free hours so we walked down the strip and checked out The Bellagio.

I'm really looking forward to putting my scrapbook together.

In the meantime, here are some non people pictures that make me smile...

The Botanical Gardens at The Bellagio
The Fountains at The Bellagio
A Lion Fish at Mandalay Bay, Shark Reef
Jellyfish
Blow fish (this is my favorite)

The Lion Habitat at the MGM

Then there was the pre people party room!...

LOST

Wasn't LOST fantastic last week?

I was hoping to watch the season premier again last night, but it took me 2 hrs and 15 min to get home last night ~ 16 miles ~ By the time I fixed and ate dinner, I was too pooped to watch anything! Still, all that time hoping was big fun! I could hardly keep up and I'm ready for tonight's show.

Oh, and that 10 inches of snow we got yesterday really messes with a small dogs potty plans! Well, Pepper is game for anything. She promptly bounded out into the yard and headed for the cover of the picnic table. Greta? Oh noooooooo, we had to shovel off 1/2 the back deck just so she would go out. Little sissy!

I loved Dark Shadows when I was a kid!
And Gigantor was one of the Saturday morning cartoons I liked
And Gold Mine bubble gum was the BEST

Mmmmmmmm, chick o sticks!!! If you've never had one, they're like the inside of a Butterfinger!

Kimba was my all time favorite cartoon

I'm gonna live!!!

Woohoo!
Great news for me, I'm not dying! I don't have breast cancer, emphysema or heart disease. Thank God! Really, I'm so relieved. I had a complete physical yesterday and so far so good. I'm trying not to stress out about the results of the blood work up and just celebrate the fact that I'm not dying. YIPPEEE!

I do have a lot of post menopausal issues though. It turns out that a couple of them are serious enough that she recommended I become part of the Prozac Nation. Hmmmm. After a lengthy discussion, I said I would give it a try. We'll talk again in a month. Bill said he'll be watchin' me like a hawk! He's not crazy about the idea for me either, but he's happy to know that it's not all his fault that I'm a mess! Goober. I guess I'll bee happy if it makes me feel better about my world.

Old age ain't for sissy's

Thanks for the new toy Mom!

We bought this strictly for entertainment purposes. We thought it would be so funny to see how 2 little dogs would react to such a big toy. Turns out, it's even funnier than we thought...they love it!!!

Sham-WOW

Yes, it's true, I really do think the Shamwow guy is the greatest barker ever!
But don't invite him to my party, he's kind of a nut!

Here's what Wiki has to say about Vince Offer...
In 1999 Offer released the Underground Comedy Movie to scathing reviews. DVDs of the film were marketed via television infomercial.
The film also generated several lawsuits. Offer filed a copyright-infringement suit against
Peter and Bobby Farrelly and Twentieth Century Fox, claiming that 14 scenes in There's Something About Mary were taken from his own film. The Farrelly brothers responded, "We've never heard of him, we've never heard of his movie, and it's all a bunch of baloney." In addition, Offer sued Anna Nicole Smith for breach of contract, alleging that Smith had agreed to appear in Underground Comedy Movie but backed out, claiming it would hurt her career. In 2004, Offer, an ex-Scientologist, sued the Church of Scientology, alleging it had declared him a criminal and had urged its members to "write false and malicious reports against him." Offer claimed that the church's action against him caused him to lose a successful business, as many of his employees were Scientologists who quit upon learning of the church's actions

Bill says that everyone I like is kind of odd and so far, he's right. I gotta get some new friends.

Who's old?

Not me! Well, okay, I am past middle age so I guess that makes me officially old. But still...I saw this really great sign in a little shop a few years ago that read, "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?" I love that. I think I would be in my mid 30's. And if it's true that 60 is the new 40, then I'm right on track! This weekend will be filled with the final party preparations. I'm really getting excited now! It's going to be the perfect weekend to stay in. Tomorrow they say we'll have rain, sleet and snow. I still haven't taken down and put away the Christmas stuff. I don't know when I'll have time ~ perhaps in February. Is that bad?

On a side note;
I LOVE the ShamWow guy!!!!! If any of you know him, I would like him to come to my party :-)

Happy New Year !

I can't believe it's the start of a new year already. Wow.

We had an uneventful day yesterday. Since Bill had been on call, and was super busy (40+ hrs of OT), he really needed at least one day of nothing to do. I was okay with that. We watched some movies and just hung out in general. We've watched a lot of movies in the last month, kind of catching up I guess. We don't "go out" to the movies much, but we watch a lot of them on pay per view and HBO. Some of them I'm glad we didn't spend the money on.

Here's what I thought of the movies we've seen;
Don't Mess With the Zohan was the worst movie ever! Moronic would be kind. We like Adam Sandler but that one sucked!
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry was so dumb but for some reason we really enjoyed it's humor. Go figure!
We also both like most M. Night Shyamalan movies. But The Happening was almost an unintentional comedy. Oh, it was suspenseful until you knew what what the happening was, then it just didn't go anywhere.
What Happens in Vegas was cute but pretty typical.
Same for P.S. I Love You. Except it wasn't fun. It had some cute spots but mostly it was just a downer.
Iron Man was TONS of fun. I've been rooting for Robert Downy Jr. for a long time and this was a great comeback for him. I can't wait for the sequel!
Hellboy II, was a blast. Great special effects. I love special effects. I laughed heartily at the Barry Manilow bit ~ it was pretty funny.
27 Dresses was also a pretty typical love story.
I Am Legend was good until the end. Then, you know me, it was awful! Journey to the Center of the Earth was pretty lame.
Indiana Jones 4 was fun but not nearly as good as 1 and 3.
Rendition had a couple good twists, but it was a little hard to follow.
We liked 21
Loved Vantage Point! Very different for a change.
The Mummy 3 was like the rest, which was fine with me! I like all the Mummy movies :-)
The Golden Compass was good too. Even better the 2nd time despite the anti religion undertones, which from what I understand, were diluted compared to the novels.
Nights in Rodanthe was just like every other Nicholas Sparks story. That takes away so much for me. But I still enjoyed watching Diane Lane and Richard Gere. They're a good couple on screen.
Tropic Thunder was pretty different. I liked it for that. That's all I can say about it though.
Wall-E was the best of the bunch. It was quite a statement and we both liked it very much.
The Bucket List ~ hmmm. I didn't like it all. Bill liked it a lot. He said it had a lot of great 'old guy' humor in it. I'm not an old guy so I didn't get it.

This coming year, we're going to try and go to the movies more. There are quite a few out right now that we both want to see; Yes Man, Seven Pounds, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and really looking forward to what Clint Eastwood says is his last acting job ~ Gran Torino. Sometimes I really miss the tough guy movies.
